Kuo Mo-jo : the early years

Kuo Mo-jo was possibly the most versatile Chinese intellectual of his day. One of the most prolific writers and scholars of modern times, he made substantial contributions in diverse fields: poetry, drama, fiction, autobiography, translation, intellectual and cultural history, archaeology, paleography, and cultural and political propaganda. This story of the formative years of his life is a study of the road by which one sensitive young Chinese intellectual came to Marxism-Leninism; it also throws light on many aspects of the crucial transitional period of modern Chinese history through which Kuo Mo-jo lived.
